Our Club usually holds test
sessions every three (3) months; when it is possible, additional
test sessions are added as needed. For the most part test
session are being held on the following schedule:
-
Test entries must be received
on or before the posted deadline. Test fees are not
refundable after the entries deadline unless the test session is
cancelled.
-
If a test session is postponed
(moved to another day), because there were not enough entries or for
other reasons out of the control of the Club, your application and
fees are automatically moved to the next test session unless you
notify the test chairman that you are not going to do the test.
You do not need to re-apply for the test unless your circumstances
have changed. Refunds are not automatically processed for club
members. If you are not taking the test, then
you must notify the Test Chairman as soon as possible in order
to process a refund of your test fees.
-
If you must take a test, in order
to qualify for a specific level (due to a deadline), and you need to
take this test at another club's test session, you must obtain a
"Test Authorization" from the Test Chairman before taking such test.
This authorization must be submitted along with the respective test
application to the test chair at the club holding the test session.
-
Before taking a
Free Skate Test, you must have passed the respective
Moves-in-the-Field Test. Also, is very important that when you and
your coach discuss and setup your program both take in consideration
the following items: Duration - Skills - Presentation
-
What
is the waiting period before trying a test marked Retry?
You must wait 27 days before trying a test again. It is
also recommended that you use the comments on your copy of the
judges scoring sheet as a guide to improve your skill for the next
test.
-
Many judges have
expressed several concerns about the freeskating tests explaining
that..."the freeskate should not only reflect the skater's
level/skills and personality; it is also important that it reflects
his or her age as well."
-
Most open competitions
(non-qualifying), unless otherwise stated in the competition
announcement, allow skaters to compete one (1) level higher than
their current test level on file. This means that if your
current level is Pre-Juvenile FS, then you may compete at the
Juvenile FS.
-
If you passed a
test, you should have received a "test patch" for the respective
test level, along with a copy of the judges score sheets.
-
If you did not
receive your test patch, it most likely was because we had exhausted
our stock, but don't worry, as soon as we re-stock we will make sure
you get yours.
-
The Test
Certificate will be sent to us directly from the U.S. Figure
Skating headquarters, after they have processed and registered the
tests report.
-
To qualify for any
adult test, the candidate must be twenty-five (25) years of
age or older. Adult MIF Tests are comprised of mixed moves
from the first five (5) standard levels. It is for this reason that
adults must understand that there is no "grandfathering" from the
standard tests to the adult test or vice-versa. If an adult
skater starts testing on the standard track and later on decides to
cross to the adult track, he/she must start the adult tests from the
beginning.
