- Did you know?
Becoming a member of a skating
club does not merely entitles you to benefits!
It also means you acquire some
responsibilities too!
Club
activities are what helps our club grow. Financial growth
is an important part of it, because it is the way our club can
survive, but not the most important one. The most
important thing about participating
in club activities is the opportunity to share with your fellow
club members, create new friendships and promote existing ones.
By creating new friends and
promoting existing ones, you also learn about "good
sportsmanship." Yes, on the ice you are competitors and
everyone must give it 100% to skate their best in a competition
and win. But you must also learn that this is also true
for your other fellow skaters. If you win, be proud, but
don't forget to express your support to other skaters for a
great competition.
If you don't win, remember
that there will always be another opportunity.
Don't just react on the judges
decision or scores; remember we all see things in different
ways, and this may be the case.
Don't be afraid, shy or upset
and go to the winner and offer your congratulations. On
the ice you are competitors, off the ice you are still friends!
Respect to your fellow
skaters, professionals, officers, and the skating public; good
sportsmanship and honesty are some of the values of our mother
organization. By upholding this values you can be proud of
being a member of U.S. Figure Skating and our sport.
Do not compromise your values
by arguing, criticizing or frivolously questioning other skaters
skills, coaches training methods or judges decisions. You
must be objective and learn from every opportunity you have to
be part of the figure skating world.

Our
Position In Regards to Multiple Club Memberships
Skating Club of South Florida, Inc. encourages home club members
to become members of other fellow clubs, both at the State
and/or National level.
Skaters can name only one (1) club as their "home club," but
they are completely free to become members of other clubs by
joining under a special membership classification. Some
clubs call this class "2nd Club" or "Associate."
One of the advantages, if not the most important, about being a
member of another club is that, usually, one of the benefits is
to be able to participate on their test sessions at the same
cost of their home members, thus helping the skater in saving
some extra fees that are usually charged to "non-members" and
may add up to 50%, or more, of the normal fee.
Another important benefit to both, the skater and our sport, is
that this helps promoting "good sportsmanship" among skaters
from
different club affiliations.
For more information on what membership class is the best to fit
your needs, contact the respective club of your choice.
