Message from the President and Executive Board of Directors

Hello everyone!

Another skating season is here, along with a new beginning for all of us at Skating Club of South Florida, Inc.  The past year was one that brought us some ups and downs, laughs, and every now and then, some tears.  But for most of it, it was an exciting and very rewarding year.

Last year started very strong with the expected membership renewals and new members joining our organization.  This year, in contrast, many members will not be renewing their memberships with our club.  Some of the reasons include:  personal reasons, the creation of the new club at the Kendall Ice Arena, and the closing of our former headquarters Miami Ice Arena.  Some decided to join other clubs, become individual members or simply not join at all.  To all of them we wish the best on their future skating endeavors, and if they choose to come back to our organization, we will welcome them with warm, open arms.

Club affiliations cannot distract us from the fact that we are-all-looking towards the same goals in our skating future.  For example, we have members from other clubs in the nation who practice at our home rinks daily.  This is a clear example that shows we can all share the same ice, the same passion for our beloved sport, and that we can be friends no matter which club we are affiliated to.  After all, we share the same mother organization:  U.S. Figure Skating.

Many other good things have happened to our club and for the benefit of our members.  Under the direct advice and assistance of U.S. Figure Skating, we have undergone a total reorganization, that included the move of our headquarters to Pines Ice Arena, and a new name and logo.

We will continue growing and progressing as time passes, and it is our main goal  for our members to enjoy their skating experience with our Club.

Personally, it is my commitment to do everything in my possibilities to make your experience at Skating Club of South Florida, your best!
